I know, it sounds a bit far fetched, but the other day I was asked to change my Adsense login to my Google account login, and then I decided, "Why not add the google toolbar?". Then I saw the google notebook and the google sites, and I wanted it all!. All my info accessible from anywhere in the world, all I need is an Internet connection! While I love the Google services and I use them all the time, I'm starting to wonder, how wonderful it is to have all your stuff accesible by the Google Applications?. I can access my info from anywhere! (hmmm...) I started toying with the Google Notebook and it asked if I wanted to save my bookmarks as well. It's SO HANDY, yet so out of my control. WHile I have not gone over the Terms with a fine tooth comb, I wonder in what instances they do have access to my information. The question is, if we are WILLING to give them our info, is it OK for them to be compiling it? - in order to better serve us, of course. I will not be a hipocrit and say these things don't make our lives easier, they do! I love that my Amazon list is on speed dial. I love that if my PC clonks out all my messages are on Gmail so I don't lose any valuable information. On top of that, I write on my blogs and disclose all types of information. So it's not like my life is this one big secret. What's the big deal then? It just seems TOO convenient. Paranoid? maybe! |
