![]() If you are already a fan of the “Rachel Morgan” character from Kim Harrison’s novels, you cannot miss reading this book! It is fast paced, full of action and wit and it will leave you literally dizzy. However, if this is the first time you find a Kim Harrison book, it might disappoint you a little. Sometimes this book lost me. There is so much going on at the same time, so many characters, you have difficulty keeping up. Had I not read “For a Few Demons More” (see review) previously I would not have been able to keep up with the storyline. I’m sorry, did I say storyline? There was none. I feel like these are the “Rachel Morgan Chronicles” as the book reads more like a day to day journal. Since I am already familiar with the characters, I enjoyed it very much.If you are a first time reader, I suggest you go for the books in the order they were published. These are the books from the Hollows / Rachel Morgan Series:
Either way, Kim Harrison’s work is fantastic as usual. There was more about Rachel’s mother and the relationship with Ivy takes a new turn. I love Ceri and Jenks and they are back in full blast. I did not get more explanations regarding what the I.S. is or the difference between humans and witches. I would love to have a Kim Harrison Glossary, and a few visitors from my site have expressed that same need. I will see what can be done. Rachel is her usual witty, klutzy self. Talk first and think later, which made me laugh a lot. This time her sex drive is more tempered. FROM THE BOOK JACKETTO save the lives of her friends, Rachel did the unthinkable: she willingly trafficked in the forbidden demon magic. And now her sins are coming home to haunt her.As Rachel searches for the truth behind a terrifying murder, an even greater menace threatens, for the demon Algaliarept will stop at nothing to claim her, and the discovery of a shocking family secret throws Rachel’s entire life into question. If she is ever to live free, Rachel must first walk willingly into the demonic ever-after in search of long-lost ancient knowledge. But when you dance with demons, you lay your soul on the line…and there are some lines that should never be crossed. |
