Madonna still rocks at 50 |

I just saw the video for "Die Another day" (Yes, a few years too late), but it amazes me how an entertainer such as Madonna can shift and shape herself to fit into any timeline. She was hot 25 years ago, she's even hotter now. I loved the mix of the movie fencing theme and the "SAW" like settings, and I-m supposed to be an educated 37 year old (you know, sophisticated and crap). When I look back at the few times Madonna has been in the headlines, with the Sex book or the Evita role, many motherhoods, and always getting hits in music, I understand, this woman can change with the flow, a rare ability that will keep her career in top shape for many years to come. That is a woman you can admire... |

Of the past 16 years I have spent 15 reading Romantic fiction. My favorite branch for those 15 years has been Historical Romance, anything Scottish or English or Civil War era, but the last year has had me in an intense search to satiate my hunger for Paranormal Romance books. It is not like it is a new ‘genre’ in the romantic fiction neighborhood, after all there have been amazing futuristic novels like “Keeper of the Heart” by Johanna Lindsay and time travel sagas like the “Outlander” books by Diana Gabaldon. Amanda Quick and Julie Garwood have used legends and myths in their storylines to add to the mystique. The great thing about paranormal romance is that all bets are off. Any type of creature, belief, mysticism, lore, legend or myth is allowed. Werewolves mixed in with Vampires, Pixies, Demons, Shape-shifters, witches, warlords, wizards, it’s a mixture of the best of the best. Ah and don’t forget the supernatural, psychic abilities, telekinesis, mind control, ah I can go on all day. |

As we ran away from Mission Street in San Francisco, which has become a slum of sorts, I spotted something that made myheart beat just a little faster. Walgreens had the newest J.R. Ward book on the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the story of Phury. Read my Review of Lover Enshrined Here. Think vampire novels are not interesting? With characters named Wrath, Thorment, Therror, Rhevenge, Vishous, etc. Get it? Powerful bringers of destruction but also the salvation of the Vampire Community. |

So Last night I was on the line at KFC and I see this group of chinese gentleman.. the oldest (maybe 45-50) was touching the youngest a bit too much. No I am not homophobic, it just seemed that the older man was trying to convince the younger one to do something. A few minutes more pass and a car pulls in.. at this point I was thinking that it was probably this young man's birthday (he looked about 17 or 18) and they wanted him to go to a brothel. This guy selling CD's and DVD's comes over and sees me looking, and tells me the young boy just got out of the Fiesta Casino (el dorado) and had lost 100,000 dollars... A few minutes before he had tried to throw himself into traffic. |
